When replacing a new battery to your BMW vehicle, it is essential that you register and code it to your vehicle's system. These process can be done using the Tool32 and NCS Expert BMW software.

Failing to register and code a new BMW battery can result to overcharging and electrical malfunctions. This would be detrimental to your vehicle's battery lifespan and electronics capacities in the long run.

As the battery ages and loses its charging capacity along the way, your BMW vehicle has been programmed to adjust how much power is needed to recharge the battery at optimal level. Thus, as the battery gets older, the more charging is required. Registering the new battery will inform your vehicle's system that a new battery is installed, so it won't read that the old battery is still installed and overcharge the new one. This would also reset the recorded battery statistics from your old batteries

Oftentimes, when replacing a new battery, the voltage specs or amperage is different from the older one. Thus, you need to code your vehicle to the settings of your new battery to avoid damaging your vehicle's electrical system.
